Al-Azhar Park & Old Cairo Sunset Walk

Al-Azhar Park was built over a centuries-old rubble mound that once buried this part of Old Cairo, and today it's one of the greenest, best-kept spots in the whole city. Walk up to its highest terraces and the skyline just opens up in front of you — minarets, domes, and the Citadel all lined up with nothing blocking the view. We time this walk for sunset on purpose. As the light softens, the mosque domes turn shades of gold and rose, and the city's lights start flickering on below.
