The Solar Boat Museum is also here, and it holds the reconstructed wooden barque of King Khufu, counted among the most important wooden objects to survive from ancient Egypt.
The museum also shows a scale model of the ship and photographs of how it was found and put back together. Ancient Egyptians buried such a boat beside a pharaoh's tomb because they believed their ruler would need a vessel to travel into the afterlife.
