Al-Azhar Park Sunset Walk

Al-Azhar Park is one of Cairo's few large green spaces, built over what used to be a centuries-old rubble dump on a ridge overlooking the old city. The payoff for that transformation is one of the best skyline views in Cairo — from the park's highest terraces, you can see the Citadel, dozens of minarets across Islamic Cairo, and the city stretching out toward the Pyramids in the distance.

The walk itself is easy and relaxed: landscaped gardens, water features, and a lakeside restaurant if you want to linger for a drink as the sun goes down and the call to prayer starts echoing across the old city's minarets.

A good, low-effort way to end a heavier sightseeing day.
