Ras Mohammed sits at the very tip of the Sinai Peninsula, where the Gulf of Aqaba and Gulf of Suez meet — a collision of currents that feeds an unusually rich reef system.
Shark Reef and Yolanda Reef are the two headline sites: dramatic drop-offs that plunge past 800 meters, patrolled by barracuda schools and, occasionally, reef sharks further out. Snorkelers get their own version of the same experience on the shallower plateau, where hard coral gardens sit just a few meters below the surface.
Most trips leave from Sharm's marina by boat, take under an hour to reach the park, and include two in-water stops plus lunch on board. No previous diving experience is needed for the snorkel sections; certified divers can add a two-tank dive at the same site.
