The Blue Hole is a near-perfectly round sinkhole just off Dahab's coast, dropping over 130 metres straight down — a site with a serious reputation among technical and free divers, but also a genuinely good snorkel for anyone sticking to the shallow ring of coral around its edge.
The Saddle, a shallow reef connection on the seaward side, is where most day-trip snorkelers spend their time: warm, well-lit water over healthy coral, with the deep blue drop visible just beyond without needing to go anywhere near it.
A full day usually pairs the Blue Hole with a walk through Dahab's laid-back old town and lunch at a beachside Bedouin-style café — a noticeably slower, more bohemian counterpoint to Sharm's resort pace, and a popular reason to make the two-hour drive north.
