Great Sand Sea Overnight Camping

The Great Sand Sea stretches for hundreds of kilometers south of Siwa toward the Libyan border, and this trip takes you deep into it by 4x4 for an overnight camp among towering dunes. The drive itself is part of the experience — dune-bashing over rolling sand formations that shift constantly with the wind — followed by a camp set up as the sun sets, dinner cooked over a fire, and a night sky almost completely free of light pollution.

Given the remoteness, this only runs with an experienced local guide who knows the terrain, and typically includes all camping gear, meals and water.
