Philae Temple & Nubian Village Tour

From €51

This tour combines two of Aswan's most distinctive sites in one day. Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis, was dismantled into over 40,000 pieces and rebuilt on Agilkia Island in one of the largest archaeological rescue operations ever undertaken, to save it from the rising waters of the Aswan Dam — the boat ride out and the island setting itself make it feel like a genuine discovery rather than a roadside stop.

The tour then continues to a Nubian village, where brightly painted homes in blues, yellows and pinks reflect a distinct culture with its own language and traditions. Time here usually includes a walk through the village and a chance to see (and often buy directly from) local craftspeople.

A good full or half-day combination that pairs ancient history with living culture rather than temples alone.
