Kalabsha Temple & High Dam Tour

This tour pairs two sites that explain how modern Aswan came to look the way it does. The Aswan High Dam, completed in 1970, tamed the Nile's annual flood and created Lake Nasser, one of the largest reservoirs in the world — but its construction also forced the relocation of Philae, Abu Simbel and Kalabsha Temple, along with entire Nubian communities.

Kalabsha Temple itself, moved to an island near the dam, sees a fraction of the visitors that Philae does, making for a quieter, more contemplative stop — and its scale and preservation are genuinely impressive in their own right.
