Elephantine Island Ruins Tour

Elephantine Island sits right in the middle of the Nile opposite central Aswan, and packs together ancient ruins, a working Nubian village and archaeological digs all on one small landmass. The ruins include a temple dedicated to the ram-headed god Khnum and a Nilometer, an ancient device used to measure the Nile's flood levels — critical information for predicting the harvest in a civilization entirely dependent on the river.
